End of the state structure formation and development of feudal relations made necessary the codification of the Ancient Russian law. The code of laws of Russia was called "the Russian Pravda" (truth).
In XI century there is formation of the so-called brief edition of "the Russian Pravda". It consisted of two basic parts: "the Ancient Pravda" (or "Yaroslav's Pravda") and "Yaroslavichi Pravda".
"The Ancient Pravda" represented the code created by Yaroslav after the victory over Svyatopolk and intended originally for Novgoroders (rendered support to him in the interstine war); thus, already existing rules of law (partly known of clauses of the Russian-Byzantian contracts of 911 and 944 years) were used in it.
The so-called "Yaroslavichi Pravda' appeared, in opinion of one researchers, in 70th years of XI century, in opinion of others - in middle of XI century (i.e. still at the time of Yaroslav). In this monument the fact of princely landed properties; the majority of clauses was devoted to legal protection of the princely property, officials and dependent people of ancestral lands. |
