The state memorial and architectural complex "P.I. Chaikovsky memorial manor-museum"
P.I. Chaikovsky memorial estate is the monument of federal importance, recreating a spatial atmosphere of the great composer's childhood. The unique monument is included not only into the known domestic, but also into the international catalogues of the historic and cultural heritage.
Chaikovsky Manor-Museum was opened in 1940 and transferred from a modest provincial museum into the independent and rather original monument of Russian culture. There were restoration works in the period from 1986 to 1990.
The area of the complex is 3,2 hectare and has 16 exposition objects including: - The memorial house of the Chaikovsky family - State houses of the officials - The steadings - Small architectural constructions - Park.
On 01.01.2000 the general display area makes 903 sq. m and there are 8 functioning expositions: - "The Childhood of P.I. Chaikovsky" - "The World and Culture of Local Workers" - "The Steadings" - "The Hut of the Gardener" - "Art Salon of the Chaikovsky House-Museum" etc.
Museum became the centre of work with visitors, recreational establishment, and the centre of communication and Russian culture.
Popularity of the museum has grown thanks to the work of the museum employees, to the Government of Udmurtia Republic, which attracted investments, and to the work of tourist firms that included the museum into the program of river cruises as significant cultural object.
