Aginskoye is a urban-type community in the Russian Federation, the centre of Aginsky Buryatsky autonomous okrug. The population is 9,2 thousand inhabitants (1991). Food enterprises are represented here. Aginskoye was founded in 1811.
Distance between Chita and settlement Aginskoye is some about two hundred kilometers. Here the taiga is changed by boundless steppes, steppes by lifeless hills. This small town, the centre of Aginsky Buryatsky autonomous okrug, strikingly contrasts with rather neglected and untidy principal town of province Chita. Roads in Aginskoye are neatly asphalted, it is clean in its streets, facades of inhabited and office buildings are well-attended.
